Question

Am I being petty?
Story removed :) Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.  I figured most teachers had been in a similar situation.  Thanks for letting me vent!

That's frustrating. The most hurtful part is that she does it on purpose. Since you've talked to her directly and she says she's not about to change, would the next step be to go to a supervisor or your principal? Is there someone else in the building who could help you work things out with her? It certainly doesn't seem fair.

This is difficult and tricky to resolve. I am not sure what the solution might be. But for me when I am in a situation like this I try not to let it be a stumbling block and joy robber. I try not to let it be a daily source of annoyance which is hard. I have found it is worth the effort though to change my response.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a good way to respond to this. Could the person on duty talk to her and tell her she is out of order and that is messing up the lunchroom? Some people just are rude.

Did you tell her that it is shortening your lunch break? If this is a source of irritation to you (and it would be to me), I would speak to the principal or vice principal, whoever set up the schedule.

So she shorts her class 5 minutes of instruction time every day, which is 25 minutes a week or an hour and a half a month? I would think that would be the way to approach the issue.
