The Honor Girl (Hill, GL, 1929) Part 1

The morning after Elsie's highschool dance performance, her adopted family enjoyed waffles, honey and strawberries.  The day's plans changed when she went to find some books at her father's house, then decided to clean up a bit.  While waiting for an order from the department store, she had tomato bouillon, crackers and a sundae at the soda fountain.
In addition to cleaning supplies, she bought a roast, some potatoes, salad fixings, corn and beans for succotash, the ingredients for biscuits and pumpkin pie.  Her father and brothers were pleasantly surprised with the wonderful meal.
And now...Fiesta Friday!

Sunflowers are August's theme in my classroom.  This place setting uses yellow and chocolate together.  There is a brighter yellow, marigold, that would look pretty too.  The placemat is a peek at the little flag hanging outside my classroom door.  I love how the prairie-point petals (3 times fast) show around the edge.  It's a block from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Summer 2011.  I'll share a picture of it soon!
